Major update — 100+ manga sites, a new reading UI
The Chrome extension and the iOS app both got a major update.
Chrome 0.9.14
-
100+ manga sites — Jump+, pixiv, WEBTOON, long strips, canvas readers. Auto-translate follows the page.
-
New reading UI — Auto on the Sumi ball. Pin, translate, keep reading.
iOS 1.0.9
-
Same site coverage in Safari and the in-app browser.
-
Auto on the Sumi ball. FAQ in Settings.
Update from the Chrome Web Store and the App Store.
v0.9.4 — flip-back fix + a direct install while the store review is pending
The Chrome Web Store is still reviewing v0.9.4, so we opened a direct channel: download and load it in about a minute — https://mangasumi.com/chrome-extension/manual-install
What 0.9.4 fixes:
- Translations no longer disappear when you flip back to pages you already read — re-reading translated pages is instant and free.
- A page you already paid for is never silently charged again: lookup errors retry instead of re-billing, and your translated pages survive restarts and cache eviction.
- A cleaner popup that no longer resizes as it opens, and a redesigned on-page button.
- Faster: server-side changes cut median translate time from ~6.8s to ~4.2s.
When the store version catches up, install it and remove the manual copy (chrome://extensions → Remove) — your account and balance are unaffected either way.
Offline translation in the iOS app is unreliable right now — fixed in the next update
Offline translation in the Sumi iOS app (1.0.7) can crash or fail to load, mostly on iPhones and iPads without much free memory. The next version stops offering models a device can't run and falls back to another engine instead of failing. It's already submitted and sitting with App Review — I won't promise a date, since that queue isn't mine.
Only on-device translation is affected. Cloud translation works normally, and so do the web translator and the Chrome extension.
If you bought the offline pack in the app, I've added 1,000 cloud pages to your account so you can keep reading in the meantime. Nothing to claim, and it isn't a refund. Don't see them? Reply here.
Sorry for the trouble.
