Update from the Sumi team — thank you again for the incredibly detailed report. The numbered steps and your correction made this fast to act on. Good news: every issue you listed is now fixed. - Importing a folder no longer crashes. - "Delete all local data" no longer white-screens on the next launch. - The import and "view all" screens now have a back button. - Import no longer auto-starts translating the whole chapter — that was the main cause of the heat and battery drain — so translation begins when you open a chapter, and there's now a Pause control for it. - You can switch imported comics to vertical continuous (webtoon) reading. These ship in the next update (1.0.9). If the App Store review is slow, we can get them to you sooner through TestFlight — just let us know. We'll post here the moment it's live. (And the other empty post — we've cleaned it up for you, no worries.) Thank you for helping us make Sumi better.
The fourth point is to correct that it is not impossible to read, but that you can't choose to become a comic strip, that is, to read continuously up and down.
Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this down — and we're really sorry the app gave you this much trouble. These are all real problems on our side, and we promise you: every one of them will be fixed. We won't let this sit. We'll work through them one by one, starting with the two crashes (the folder import, and the white screen after "delete all local data"). We're aiming to have both fixed in the next update, and we plan to submit it within about a week. App Store review can sometimes take a while — if it's slow, we can provide a TestFlight beta build with the fixes, so you won't have to wait on the review. If it's not too much trouble, a couple of small things would help us reproduce the import crash: - your iPad model, and roughly what's in the folder (how many images, any subfolders) - whether a small folder with just 2–3 images crashes too A screenshot or a short screen recording would help a lot — but only if it's convenient for you. For the white screen: reinstalling the app should get it working again for now. We're sorry you'd have to do that at all. You're right about the other points too — the import screen with no way back, translation starting on its own with no way to pause it, no vertical continuous reading for imported comics, and the heat and battery drain. We'll keep fixing these in the following updates, and we'll report back in this thread as each one ships — until everything on your list is resolved. (And no worries about the other empty post — we'll clean it up for you.) We're sorry again for the rough experience, and thank you sincerely for writing it all down so clearly, including the correction. Feedback like this genuinely helps a small team like ours.
